About the Playmakers
The Playmakers are a progressive amateur theatrical group who are active in the Surrey/Hampshire border area.
Productions are staged at the Mytchett Centre where we rehearse on Monday evenings at 8:00pm. Our major activities are Drama, Comedy, Farce and the ancient "Mummers" style street entertainment. We also produce an annual pantomime that is full of big production numbers and makes use of off stage skills such as set design, painting, costume making and stage make up.
Playmakers support local charities, a specific charity is chosen each year and fund raising is actively carried out throughout the year. Details of charities that have been supported and the chosen charity for the current year are publicised in the pantomime programme and can be found by visiting our links page.
New members aged at least sixteen years old are always welcome. If you have ever wanted to have a go at anything to do with the stage, then either contact us via the contact page or come along to one of the Monday meetings, you will be made very welcome.
Social events are arranged by the members throughout the year.
If you are under sixteen you can now join our "Young Playmakers" that meet every other week on Mondays from 6.45 to 8pm (just before the main club night) Ask your parent or guardian to get in touch with the chairman via the website. "Young Playmakers" are not by definition members, we ask that the parent or guardian becomes the full member and accompanies the child at all rehearsals and performances (we can always find them a job!)
