Midsummer Mysteries

2 One Act Plays

The Monkey's Paw by W.W. Jacobs. Dramatised by Louis N Jackson

A storm ravaged night in the first decade of the twentieth century and the White family are relaxing at home in front of a warming fire enjoying the yarns of old one-armed Morris. But, in less than a day, a nightmare of terrible tragedy, grief and horror will descend on the White family home. Whether the ghostly paranormal goings-on are the result of a bewitched and mummified Monkey's Paw, or whether it is simply coincidence, is left to you – the audience – to decide. But whatever you do, whoever you see and wherever you go – be very, very careful what you wish for…

At the Changing of the Year by Malcolm Young

Its New Years Eve and Jan and Ian have invited their friends Julia and David over to spend it in their newly acquired 'home in the country'. As the old year draws to a close there is a midnight postman bringing a parcel and cryptic note to a 'Lavinia, from Edward, with love' who is Lavinia and why would the Royal Mail be delivering at this time?

This tale is set in the present year of 2008 and the cottage is clearly a second home to these new money folk.
